The Story Behind Kiss My Credentials
As Told By Dyan:
It all started with a question. One I had been asking myself for years but finally asked out loud. I’d been at yet another training course (did you know women are more likely to take more training to feel more qualified than men?) On the last day I asked the instructor how to convince my boss and the higher ups the value of these new strategies.
Really the question I was asking was "How do I convince the people in charge to listen to me and my new ideas?”
The answer I got from this wise soul “Sometimes you just need to remember that you are the smartest person in the room.”
That statement hit me right in the solar plexus. Or the centre of my heart. Or my soul. I’m not sure where but it stayed with me.
I realized that even though I thought I had confidence, I needed reminders to step into my confidence in order to be seen and heard.
The next thing I knew I was texting my sister and Kiss My Credentials was born.
We have big plans for where we want this to go but to start, we plan on building a local community that supports women entrepreneurs, local female businesses, and organizations that provide support for women in need. Sound like a good start? If you know of someone who fits the bill send us a message... we can't wait to hear your story!
Who We Are
Dyan
Self-Proclaimed Introvert and Mastermind of Kiss My Credential
Dyan should probably be given credit for being the genius mastermind of Kiss My Credentials. Brilliant ideas always seem to strike her at the most inconvenient times. A self proclaimed SuperIntrovert, she spends a lot of time in her own mind. And reading books. And listening to podcasts. And looking out the window at birds and sunsets.
Already in the midst of starting her own business, she decided that starting a second business seemed like a perfectly logical idea and could think of no better business partners than Ray and Big Ed. Dyan is the one who keeps the train from going off the rails. She likes making lists and subsequently checking things off lists. She keeps everyone organized and moving forward. She gets SH#T done!
Raylee
The one most likely to respond with "I'm in, when do we start!?"
Every good team needs a mover and shaker. If Dyan is the one who keeps Kiss my Credentials moving forward, Raylee is most definitely the shaker. She’ll be the one who responds to your emails with lots of exclamation points! Communication is her strength and she loves to people. Raylee, who has never read a self-help book in her life, decided that 2019 was going to be the year that she started saying yes to opportunity that came knocking on her door. She meant to things like potlucks and road trips but when the text from her sister came through, she knew that this was one of those things you just couldn’t say no to. Not only would she get to work with two fabulous members of her inner circle, but she’d get the chance to hang out and talk to other rad women about how awesome they are.
Make sure to say hi if you see Raylee out and about town with her kiddo Pdawg, who takes after her mother in the communication department. Pdawg provides the comedic relief and laugh track to our business meetings.
Big Ed
Social Media and Sarcastic Comment Expert
Being the youngest of the crew, it just makes sense to have Big Ed running the social media elements of Kiss My Credentials. Her creativity is rivaled by her sarcastic wit (that she clearly inherited from her Auntie Raylee), Big Ed brings a lot to the table. When asked if she wanted to “help” with the business, that wasn’t enough for her. She donated her savings and became a full partner and helps out in all areas of the business.
In Big Ed’s words:
I decided to help with this business because I think women are strong, brave, and kind. I think women are just as strong as men and they can do anything they put their mind to. I think that some women think that they can’t do something so all they need is a reminder that only they know. So they know that they are the best of the best.
Honey
